Richmond Hill Cycling

This is my currently very basic site about cycling in and around Richmond Hill, Ga in south Bryan County, near Savannah. I currently live here and am interested in meeting other cyclists for the purposes of exchanging information with each other for rides, both training and enjoyment, and anything else related to riding a bicycle.

If there is enough interest, this could be the begining of a local club or whatever the area would support, although I hesitate to call it a "club" at this point. I don't want people to start worrying about dues, meetings, and not having time to participate in group functions unless we decide there is interest in having a "club." My hope is that by local cyclists meeting each other, we can become more than a bunch of individuals riding around alone in the same area. I pass riders weekly and if I get a chance to speak with one, they know there are others in the area but don't know who they are. If it's only as basic as morning riders meeting other morning riders and like wise with evening riders and setting up schedules with each other. Maybe we could all meet occasionally for a cup of coffee and ride together one Saturday. Maybe we could bring a little more awareness to the drivers blazing up 144 that there are cyclists in the area.

I'd like to hear from you regardless of what type of bike you ride or how long you ride. Road bikes putting in 40 miles, mountain bikes at the Fort McAllister trails, comfort bikes doing laps at Gregory Park, or a beach cruiser riding around your neighborhood, there is surely someone else that is either doing the same thing or would like to be and needs a little advice and encouragement from another rider to get going and more importantly, KEEP going.

I live in Buckhead and ride on any evenings I can Monday-Thursday around 6:45-7:00 for about 16-24 miles. On Saturday and Sunday I try to ride in the morning by 8:00 for 24-36 miles. I'm on a black and yellow Giant TCR or a blue Cannondale cyclocross bike.

I've also been using bikejournal.com for logging my rides online and there is a "club" feature there. If you would like to join the Richmond Hill Cycling "club" email me for the password that you will need to join online. There is a lot of good information there including forums and calculators. Its free to use or you can give a donation and get a little more access to the site.

So let's meet either online or on the road and start seeing how many cyclists are in the area, who knows where it can go, and if you see another rider out, be sure to tell them about Richmondhillcycling.com.
